Combined powers for brand and image

Marketing Leipzig GmbH was founded on 1st July 2001.It was commissioned by the City council's "Initiative Leipzig" which was chaired by Wolfgang Tiefensee, Leipzig's Mayor. Its task is to combine the various activities of Leipzig's city and location marketing as well as communicating Leipzig's image and marketing partnerships.

Marketing Leipzig GmbH has always drawn its strength from the city's core beliefs and self-image. Representatives from the business community, the arts and sciences worked together with the City Marketing Board and Leipzig's Marketing Association to refine these concepts. The results of this collaborative effort are certainly something to be proud of. The final concept brings together the themes, merits, and communicative USPs: wealth of opportunity, quality of life, integration and innovation.

"Leipziger Freiheit" wins

To build on this basis, a nationwide competition was started in which 100 advertising agencies took part. An expert jury, under the chairmanship of Wolfgang Tiefensee announced the winner after three rounds: Leipziger Freiheit. The new marketing campaign replaced the Leipzig Kommt, which had dramatically raised the awareness of Leipzig from 1994 - 1996. Marketing Leipzig GmbH has been responsible since then for the realisation of the "Leipziger Freiheit" campaign, profiling the city as credible and friendly with a professional corporate identity and a harmonious message.

Powerhouse for City marketing

With only eight employees, Marketing Leipzig GmbH is situated in Steibs Hof (Nikolaistrasse 28-32) and has become a communication powerhouse right in the heart of the city. As the official marketing "generator" it is responsible for classical marketing and activities such as the acquisition and running of large scale sporting events, looking after sponsors and coordinating Leipzig's branding. The basic principle is Public Private Partnership in which the joints strengths of the both the public and private sectors are combined to produce a positive awareness of Leipzig.
