Dear students of Tübingen, Munich, Hamburg and elsewhere. Why are you living in tiny, expensive quarters? Why are you studying in universities that are mainly too full? Why do you put up with closing times? Why not come to Leipzig? To a city with almost 100.000 freshly renovated and economical, historical apartments. With offers of study courses ranging from university to private business schools and music academy. And no closing hours. Or in a nutshell: a city where you learn not only for life but about living. That is Leipzig Freedom.
Come to Leipzig!
Study years are for living – for students, for example, who rent a historic apartment in Leipzig. For six or seven euro a square metre students live in a generously dimensioned, renovated old apartment with sedate ambience. It is even better: In the city with the largest enclosed Founding Era district in Germany such palaces are also available. The days of grey houses and ugly prefabricated blocks have gone forever. Those in the know have long realized it: Leipzig is the ideal place for people who value quality of life and living.
When other towns go to sleep, Leipzig gets going
No matter how attractive their own living room is, the people of Leipzig and its visitors want to go out in the evening. It's only a stone's throw to the swinging city. Over 1,400 pubs, restaurants, cabarets, cinemas, theatres, clubs and dance floors are teeming with life. As soon as the sun comes out the attraction of Leipzig's freedom breaks out. The scene changes to locations in the fresh air - Leipzig is the city of "free seats", that means terraces, beer gardens, street bars and open air pubs. Over 1,240 localities serve guests in the open air – then everyone, from banker to techno fan, outside on the terraces and in the bars and restaurants which have moved services outside on the streets. As night falls, whole streets are devoted to leisure time, summer theatre and see-and-be-seen.
There is no closing time for fun here
Within the crowded city centre every evening is full of amusement. No closing times, of course. Our freedom doesn't stop so soon. Nobody can count the number of offers for leisure, entertainment, plays and dancing. And the jazz pubs, bars, Italian restaurants, cabaret, theatre, discos and loud clubs are only a few yards apart. Above all the ancient market places, restored with all details and passageways of the oldest trade fair city in the world has a magic attraction for the people of Leipzig, their guests and, of course the students.
L.E. is in trend
In the centuries of trade fairs „L.E.", as the Leipzig citizens fondly call their city, has acquired an excellent name as the city of passageways. Renovation of the old exhibition halls, the kilometre long, luxuriant passageways, the baroque or Founder Era courtyards – these are the showplaces for entertainment, strolling along, shopping and enjoyment.
The range of cuisine alone is breathtaking. Within a few metres you will find almost everything from traditional Saxon restaurants, upmarket Italian restaurant to overcrowded Irish pub. The variety causes the Leipzig people to prefer "pub-crawling", going from one establishment to another in the same evening. And because of the passageways, even a rain shower cannot spoil the fun.
